Forum indicates most Bacoor folk OK cityhood

BACOOR, Cavite – Most of the residents of this town favor a plan to convert this first-class municipality into a component city.

This was the consensus reached by Bacoor residents following a forum on cityhoold held last week at SM City Bacoor.

The forum was called by Mayor Jessie Castillo in an effort to clarify issues and concerns about the cityhood bill which is pending in Congress

Invited to attend the forum were several leaders who are opposed to the cityhood bid. They include Cavite Gov. Erineo Maliksi, Rep. Junjun Abaya (1st District, Cavite) and municipal opposition politicians led by Vice Mayor Edwin Malvar.

However, Maliksi, Abaya and Malvar failed to attend the forum. The reason for their no-show was not immediately known.

During the forum, Mayor Castillo said that the plan to convert Bacoor into a city is anxiously waited by many people because of its many advantages.

He said Bacoor has already reached its peak with 92 percent of its land area converted into residential places.

“If the town becomes a city, an additional internal revenue allotment (IRA) of R250 million per year from the national government would be added to the coffers of the town,” he said.

Castillo also said that aside from this amount, the town would also have R120 million in annual community development fund (CDF) that would be allotted for the congressional district of Bacoor.

“If this amount is added to the R360 million yearly budget of the municipal government, this would reach R530 million. This is quite an amount to finance various infrastructure projects and programs such as those for the maintenance of peace and order and delivery of basic services,” the mayor said.

He noted that under the present setup, the municipal government is losing R50 million every year or a total of R150 million for three years because this amount goes to the coffers of the provincial government.

NO TO A HASTILY-CALLED FOR CITYHOOD OF BACOOR!  CITYHOOD CAN WAIT!!!

  6. taga-bacoor-molino Says:

    6) basura
    7) mga posteng nakaharang sa gitna ng kalsada
    8) walang pulis (kung meron, nasaan??)
    9) walang bumbero
